| Abingdon Lions Club was chartered in 1981 and serves the town of Abingdon in Oxfordshire, UK and the surrounding area. We have 13 members all of whom are very active. We are now recruiting so enquire within. No pay but a lot of fun.
We meet at 8pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Conservative Club, Ock Street, Abingdon and welcome visits from Lions near and far. We particularly welcome visits from non-Lions, both men and women, who are interested in our activities and would like to find out more about us and join in the fun. Club News The original url of this site was long and difficult to remember (even the webmaster had to write it down), so now you can find the Abingdon Lions web site by typing www.abingdonlions.org. Every little helps! We would like to thank all of the teams that supported the Christmas collection around the streets of Abingdon and outside Waitrose as well as the visitors to the Santa Grotto at Frost's Garden Centre, Millets Farm. The collection raised nearly £7500 net for local charities. Help Wanted Abingdon Lions Club has had to vacate its store. We desperately need to find somewhere to store our Christmas Float, caravans and quite a lot of other equipment. Ideally we do not want to pay for storage, as now, as this simply takes money from people who we could otherwise help. If you can help us to help others, please contact one of the club officers without delay. Thank you for thinking of us. How to Find Us There follows a map and directions on how to find us at the Conservative Club. Please print out this page of instructions and take it with you. The map has been rotated 90 degrees to get it in at a good scale so, to view it normally, rotate the page clockwise. The Conservative Club is marked with a red dot. | |

From the A34 |
Leave at the A415 Marcham interchange and turn towards Abingdon at the roundabout. Keep straight ahead at the next two roundabouts. You will shortly come to an odd double mini roundabout where you go straight on. The Conservative Club is in Ock Street but its car park is entered from Conduit Road. After passing the double mini roundabout, take the second turning on the left which is Conduit Road. It is signposted Carswell School. After 50 yards turn right into the alleyway which leads into the car park. The Conservative Club building is entered from the rear door which is in the car park. If the door will not open, there is an intercom. Just say you are attending the Lions meeting. |
From Dorchester |
Enter Abingdon by crossing Abingdon Bridge and entering Bridge Street. Turn left at the Market Place into High Street keeping the ancient County Hall building on your left. Don't turn hard left into East St Helen Street. You are now in the one way system. Keep in the left hand lane and you will exit the one way system into Ock Street which is two way. 100 yards past the light controlled pedestrian crossing, turn right into Conduit Road, signposted Carswell School. Follow the final part of the directions above for the A34. |
